You may feel so troublesome with the following messages when you attempt to copy from or write into your pendrive with the following error

* Media is write protected
* The disk is write protected
* Cannot copy files and folders, drive is write protected
* Cannot format the drive, drive is write protected
* Remove write protection or use another disk

This errors are due to
1.Hardware
2.Software

1.Hardware:
Mainly nowadays the pendrives or usb or memory cards come with an external hardware option of locking which helps the user to save his data from corruption or over-writing by any malwares or adwares or virus or any intruders. If you are not aware of the lock and by accident,you have enabled the lock,the write will be disabled on ur external storage media and even you cannot format your pendrive or usb or memory card.

Try unlocking the side lock and once you have done that,your disk will be free from write protection and you can have your instant data access.

2.Software

I have referred as software because the write protection will be caused by the virus present in the pen drive which will enter into the registry and hack the registry. The user can neither write nor format his pendrive mainly because of malicious virus which plays a major role in disabling user from using his/ser pendrive.
The solution is given as follows in pictoral representation

Before going to edit registry,better have a back up of the registry because if any faults occur,you can remove them by the back up
Backuping registry:
File-Export-Give a name and give ok
Thus a backup is made

Steps:

1. Go to run and type regedit.press Enter
2. A window appears
3. Go to My Computer/HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies

4.Right Click on StorageDevicePolicies->New->DWORD value

5.Now a new value is created and rename it as WriteProtect.....Beware of the spelling and give it correct.Set the default value to 0 and restart your computer. Now you are free from write protection.If you are still having problems of write protection try giving value as 1.But problem solves by giving value to 0
